Being a Mom is more than a full-time job. Between managing schedules, preparing meals, breaking up fights and making sure my kids (or husband) don’t set the house on fire. I have lot on my plate every day. And there have been times that I can’t help but wonder, "what if someone paid me to do this?!"
Well, Salary.com came up with a formula to calculate to what a Mom’s work is worth (financially, of course), and this Boston Working Mom of two teenagers would be making $85,953!!! In contrast, the Mom Salary Wizard has SAHMs earning roughly $50,000 more per year, because, in theory, they spend more time doing Mom tasks.
So what are Mom Tasks? Sarary.com surveyed over 12,000 Moms to find out what jobs we do most frequently and how much time we spend doing them. From this survey they determined that a Mom’s workload is primarily a mix of 10 different tasks—Laundry Machine Operator, Janitor, Van Driver, Housekeeper, Computer Operator I, Cook, Day Care Center Teacher, Facilities Manager, Psychologist and Chief Executive Officer. They also came up with a slide show that breaks down the information by task and amount ‘earned.’
Salary.com updates their Mom data each year (May-May) and they found that in 2008-2009, Moms are working harder than ever! Not only are Moms outsourcing less and doing more themselves, but they're also spending more time on the ‘higher-paying jobs’ such as facilities manager, CEO, and psychologist.
Want to see what your salary would be? Visit Mom.Salary.com, to find out. They also have one for Dads. I made my husband his own personalized check and slipped it into his Father’s Day card. Of course, even without the paycheck, doing all those jobs for our kids is worth it. But it's always nice to get some recognition!

Love this. Can't wait to see what my salary would be as a work-at-home mom. Thanks for sharing!
