With football season rapidly approaching, my grocery shopping list now features all of the Sunday favorites of the men in my house. My husband Ron and my son Brooks prepare the living room, and their stomachs, days in advance. Even though they might find the time to spend hours sitting in front of the television screaming at quarterbacks, I certainly never do! Between catching up on email, gardening, spending time with my daughter, working out, and doing all those household chores I put off during the week, I can’t cook meals all day for the boys. Yet, left to their own devices, they would take down an entire plate of nachos with extra cheese as an appetizer to their appetizer and continue from there! So how do I make sure they eat a healthy, yummy, filling meal that also proves quick and easy to prepare?
Enter Campbell’s Chunky Soup, which, coincidentally, serves as the official soup of the NFL! Their ad campaigns have traditionally shown the moms of famous NFL players encouraging their sons to eat Campbell’s Chunky Soup, so they can feel full and play hard. I want the same basic principles for my boys, but without the helmets, pads or threat of injury! Campbell’s Chunky Soup recently revamped their entire line of soups, increasing the nutritional value for each. Over 30 of their flavors now have a full serving of vegetables, 100% lean meat, or a daily dose of protein. Some of the options even have 2 or 3 of those benefits. Chunky Soup isn’t reserved for only Sundays (or men!), and I plan to add it to my dinner menu from time to time as well.
I am also looking forward to September 9th, when Campbell’s launches www.chunkysoupgameplan.com, a new site featuring tips and interactive tools from Men’s Health and covering topics like eating right and finding time to exercise. Besides stuffing some of the articles in my husband’s briefcase, I also plan to enter for a chance to win a trip to Super Bowl XLIV in Miami! So if you or any NFL fan you know is interested in heading to this year’s Super Bowl for free, be sure to check the site out!
