The over-scheduling of
children in America has increased dramatically over the past two decades. The
rise has led to a decrease in free time for unstructured activities and
playtime. While Parents have developed the habit of rushing their children from
one activity to the next, they have created a culture for their children very
different from the one they grew up in. Check out my interview on Good Morning
America for the rest of the story.
What do you think about
the over-scheduling of children today?

I have a cousin that over schedules her daughter. It's insane. She doesn't have time for much of anything else. SHe missed all my kids birthday parties and didn't even have 1 of her own due to her busy schedule. SO sad. My daughter was in alot last yr but I scaled her down this yr to one program. That keep her busy 2 days a week and some weekends too with performances. School is very busy with homework so I can't see how parents think children can still keep their mind on their school work and all the activities too. Its just sad

Our family subscribes to the "life's best moments aren't planned (scheduled)" mantra.
We have some extended family who micromanage their "future stars." We haven't seen them in years. I feel so sorry for the poor kids.
I don't need my children to be "the best" or highly trained at something. My children are well rounded, polite, and self-confident.
My 6 children see their parents without a phone to their ear or hands on a keyboard, smiling, laughing, and enjoying life and each other to the full!
